Our furniture is built and painted with the care and quality materials that will enable it to maintain its value over time. Each piece is individually built to order by an experienced woodworker in Delaware. The woods we use, maple, poplar, and maple veneers, were chosen because of their durability and sustainability. The strong materials and sturdy building techniques we employ are intended to ensure that our furniture stays true for generations. Our furniture designs are based on tradition and we create uniqueness in the details. Hand carved finials and signature hardware are just a few of the traits that give an identifiable look to each Russell & Mackenna piece of furniture. Hand applied paint also adds individuality to everything we craft. After a thorough quality inspection, our furniture receives a wooden brand of approval and authenticity. We are certain you will appreciate and enjoy your Russell & Mackenna furniture for years to come.
We work with the trade to customize our furniture to meet a client's specific needs. Please call us for an estimate or for more information regarding Custom Russell & Mackenna.
We use top quality stainless steel butt hinges on our Beach Gear Box, Big Island and Seamus Bookshelf as well as our Mid-sized, Large, Extra Large and Double Vanities, while we employ chrome plated lift off hinges on our Smallest Vanity. Top notch quality for salt air living.
On all of our beds, side rails attach to the footboard and headboard with strong steel brackets that are easy to assemble. Clearance under all side rails is 11 1/2". When considering a support and mattress combination for our beds we do not recommend exceeding 18" in height. We find that a bunkie board (a 1 1/2" to 2 1/2" mattress platform without springs) and a standard mattress works best. Bedding is supported by six slats. Queen and king beds also have a center support.

All of our drawer boxes are made of solid maple and joined with traditional dovetail joints. Our larger drawers are equipped with stainless steel, full extension Accuride© drawer sildes, while we use top of the line Blum© vinyl coated, self-guided drawer runners for smaller drawers. Time is taken to paint our drawers inside and out.
Many of our pieces are topped with finials... small works of art hand carved in hard wood by a talented coastal artisan. They are attached with removable wooden dowels. Select from starfish, fish, flower, butterfly or sailboat.
All shelves are removable. We use discreet stainless steel supports that are small enough that they are not noticed, but strong enough that they can hold lots and lots of stuff!
Painted maple knobs are standard, but we do offer recycled glass knobs and painted minnow knobs as upgrades.
Chrome casters are an optional upgrade that is available on most of our case furniture, media centers and kitchen islands. They swivel and lock into place, rolling only when you want them to!
